Hi, I’m Maria.

I’m a professional, award winning artist, my work can be found in civic, corporate and important private collections in Ireland and abroad. I have an honours degree in Natural Science from Trinity College Dublin and am interested in painting nature, in particular everything to do with the coast.

I paint in oils starting off thinly and building up the texture. I like to paint in a representational way, It is my aim to have a story to tell in the painting, I am very happy if one of my paintings stirs up a memory or a resonance with the viewer. I paint landscapes but usually there will be water somewhere in the painting I live in the beautiful Blackwater Valley and often paint scenes around the river but I will make my way to the coast as often as I can to work on seascapes.

I have paintings in collections all over the world and including in the Irish National Collection and the Munster Technological University collection.

I have won several awards for painting but my proudest moment was when President Michael D. Higgins was presented with one of my paintings which was commissioned by BT Ireland at the BT Young Scientist awards in 2019. I am represented in many galleries in the South of Ireland, particularly in the following galleries:
